At Tawheed "Islamic Monotheism" is the belief in the one’s of God (Allah).
It is declaring Allah to be One and Unique in His work, like creation, sustenance, bringing to life and causing death etc. This means the belief that Allah has created mankind and bestowed upon them their means of living, and can give them life and can take if from them. Allah says in the Quran, "Allah is the Creator of all things, and He is the Guardian and disposer of all affairs."
All acts of worship dedicated, such as Salat (prayers), Zakat (annual 2.5% of income to the poor), Saum (fasting), supplications, vowing etc. We must perform our worship strictly to and for Allah and nobody else, no matter how noble and how honorable he is.
The Arabs in Mecca and later the Jews in Medina inquired from Allah’s Rasul (SAW), who is Allah? Allah revealed in Surah Ikhlas (S112) as follows:
In the name Of Allah, The most Gracious, The Most Merciful.
Say, Allah is One,
Allah The Everlasting, The Eternal,
He has not given birth and was not born,
And no one is comparable to Him
Narrated Abu Musa (RA): Some people asked Allah's Apostle, (SAW) "Whose Islam is the best? i.e. (Who is a very good Muslim)?" He replied, "One who avoids harming the Muslims with his tongue and hands." --(Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol 1).
All the Divine Names and Attributes of Allah in a manner that suits His Majesty, as mentioned in the Quran and the Sunna. The names of Allah are all Best Names and His descriptions are all Superior and Perfect.
Narrated Abu Huraira:
Allah’s Apostle said, “Allah has ninety-nine Names, one-hundred less one; and he who memorized them all by heart will enter Paradise.” To count something means to know it by heart.-- Volume 9, Book 93, Number 489:
The Unity of God, the Divine Unity, Unity in its most profound sense. Allah is The Real, The Absolute. Allah is one in His Essence, His Attributes and His Acts. Before the existence of the universe there was nothing but The Creator.Your God is surely One. (37:4) inna Ilaaha-kum-la-Wahid. The Qur`an declares that “Nothing is like Him” (42:11).
In another verse, S 24:35, an image of spiritual discernment of Allah is mentioned,
Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth……….. Light upon Light! And Allah guides to His Light whom He will.
Narrated Jarir:
Allah’s Apostle came out to us on the night of the full moon and said, “You will see your Lord on the Day of Resurrection as you see this (full moon) and you will have no difficulty in seeing Him.” -- Volume 9, Book 93, Number 531:
Allah is omniscient and all-powerful. All of Allah’s attributes belong to Him exclusively. He is the first and there is no last but His oneness. He is the First without anything before Him. He is the Last without anything after Him. The end is with Him alone, and He is the End. He is All-Existing: with him there is no end. Allah is now as He was before. He is Eternal.
There is non worthy of worship accept Allah.
Allah says that He was a hidden treasure and wished to be known thus; He created Man and Jinn purely to worship Him. A clear understanding of this Hadith is the basis for all creation, which is love, obedience and worship of Allah.
Allah has no partner. He is All Powerful, Absolutely Just. He is The First, The Last and The Everlasting, He was when nothing was, and will be when nothing remains. He only grants life and knows what is in the Heavens and the earth. He knows what is in our hearts and listens to the entire creation. He sent all the Prophet (SAW)s to guide man to Worship only Him.
Islam is the religion of Allah, which permeates peace:
Islam simply means Peace. One who accepts and follows the way of Islam is known as a Muslim. Muslim is an adjective to Islam, which means Peaceful and one who submits to the divine, will and guidance to no other god (ilah) accept Allah.
All Allah knowing and truth loving Men have believed and lived this religion. They were all Muslims as all the Prophet (SAW)s from Adam to Nuh to Ibrahim to Musa to Essa to Muhammad on all be Peace were Muslims.
It is very important for us to know that Allah is the only one who can tell us what He wants for us in the way of worship to Him. He makes the rules and we try to do it. That is how it is described in Islam.
Tawheed can be viewed from the perspectives of:
Tawheed al-Rububiyah – Unity of Lordship
Tawheed al- Uluhiyah – Unity of Worship
Tawheed al- Asma wa Sifaat – Unity of His Names and His Attributes and
Tawheed al Itabaa – Unity in the following the Prophet (SAW) Muhammad (PBUH)
Tawheed undoubtedly is the central theme and message of the Qur`an, the Book of Allah and it is repeated in many other verses.
Narrated Abu Huraira (RA): The Prophet (SAW) said: "Religion is very easy and whoever overburdens himself in his religion will not be able to continue in that way. So you should not be extremists, but try to be near to perfection and receive the good tidings that you will be rewarded; and gain strength by worshipping in the mornings, afternoons and during the last hours of the nights." --(Sahih Al-Bukhari Vol 1).
The Unity of Allah is a magnificent and a beautiful concept, and Muslims reaffirm their adherence to it many times a day.
Allah has also described about faith in many places in the Qur’an, so let us now take a look at what He has in store for the believers.
Faith in Islam—From the view of The Al-Qur’an:
There is no being like unto Allah. Mercy may imply pity, long-suffering, patience and forgiveness. Allah is the Cherisher and Sustainers of the world. He cares for all the worlds he has created.
We have to realise in our souls Allah’s love and care, his grace and mercy and his power and justice. Not only do we reach the position of worshipping Allah and asking for his help, but also we worship Him alone and ask for His aid. There is none other than He, worthy of our devotion and able to help us.
Allah, guide us in the straight way. We may be wandering aimlessly, and the first step is to find the way; and the second need is to keep in the way; our own wisdom may fail in either case.
In Surah Al- Fatiha verses no. 1- 7 Allah remarks:
1.1. In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
1.2. Praise be to Allah, the Cherisher and Sustainer of the worlds;
1.3. Most Gracious, Most Merciful;
1.4. Master of the Day of Judgment.
1.5. Thee do we worship, and Thine aid we seek.
1.6. Show us the straight way,
1.7. The way of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy Grace, those whose (portion) is not wrath, and who go not astray.
Allah’s signs are worth more than all our paltry considerations, and the standard of duty and righteousness is to be taken from Allah. He brings about his command. For Allah hath power over all things.
2.3. Who believe in the Unseen, are steadfast in prayer, and spend out of what We have provided for them;
2.4. And who believe in the Revelation sent to thee, and sent before thy time, and (in their hearts) have the assurance of the Hereafter.
2.6. As to those who reject Faith, it is the same to them whether thou warn them or do not warn them; they will not believe.
2.41. And believe in what I reveal, confirming the revelation which is with you, and be not the first to reject Faith therein, nor sell My Signs for a small price; and fear Me, and Me alone.
2.108. Would ye question your Messenger as Moses was questioned of old? but whoever changeth from Faith to Unbelief, Hath strayed without doubt from the even way.
2.109. Quite a number of the People of the Book wish they could Turn you (people) back to infidelity after ye have believed, from selfish envy, after the Truth hath become Manifest unto them: But forgive and overlook, Till Allah accomplish His purpose; for Allah Hath power over all things.
2.132. And this was the legacy that Abraham left to his sons, and so did Jacob; "Oh my sons! Allah hath chosen the Faith for you; then die not except in the Faith of Islam."
2.136. Say ye: "We believe in Allah, and the revelation given to us, and to Abraham, Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and that given to Moses and Jesus, and that given to (all) Prophet (SAW) s from their Lord: We make no difference between one and another of them: And we bow to Allah (in Islam)."
2.143. Thus, have We made of you an Ummat justly balanced, that ye might be witnesses over the nations, and the Messenger a witness over yourselves; and We appointed the Qibla to which thou wast used, only to test those who followed the Messenger from those who would turn on their heels (From the Faith). Indeed it was (A change) momentous, except to those guided by Allah. And never would Allah Make your faith of no effect. For Allah is to all people Most surely full of kindness, Most Merciful.
2.165. Yet there are men who take (for worship) others besides Allah, as equal (with Allah.: They love them as they should love Allah. But those of Faith are overflowing in their love for Allah. If only the unrighteous could see, behold, they would see the penalty: that to Allah belongs all power, and Allah will strongly enforce the penalty.
2.177. It is not righteousness that ye turn your faces Towards east or West; but it is righteousness- to believe in Allah and the Last Day, and the Angels, and the Book, and the Messengers; to spend of your substance, out of love for Him, for your kin, for orphans, for the needy, for the wayfarer, for those who ask, and for the ransom of slaves; to be steadfast in prayer, and practice regular charity; to fulfil the contracts which ye have made; and to be firm and patient, in pain (or suffering) and adversity, and throughout all periods of panic. Such are the people of truth, the Allah.fearing.
2.208. O ye who believe! Enter into Islam whole-heartedly; and follow not the footsteps of the evil one; for he is to you an avowed enemy.
2.255. ‘Allah. There is no god but He,-the Living, the Self-subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him nor sleep. His are all things in the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede in His presence except as He permitteth? He knoweth what (appeareth to His creatures as) before or after or behind them. Nor shall they compass aught of His knowledge except as He willeth. His Throne doth extend over the heavens and the earth, and He feeleth no fatigue in guarding and preserving them for He is the Most High, the Supreme (in glory). Allah himself speaks to us through His revelations’
For Islam we have to bow our will of Allah. This implies (1) Faith, (2) doing rights, being an example to others to do right, and having the power to see that the right prevails. (3) Eschewing wrong, and having the power to see that wrong and injustice are defeated. Islam therefore lives, not for itself but for mankind. Muslims have to be pure faith upon Allah.
Unfortunately there is unfaith, but it can never harm those who carry the banner of faith and right. For us Allah is our protector, He is sufficient and our best guardian.
3.4. Then those who reject Faith in the Signs of Allah will suffer the severest penalty, and Allah is Exalted in Might, Lord of Retribution.
3.7. He it is Who has sent down to thee the Book: In it are verses basic or fundamental (of established meaning); they are the foundation of the Book: others are allegorical. But those in whose hearts is perversity follow the part thereof that is allegorical, seeking discord, and searching for its hidden meanings, but no one knows its hidden meanings except Allah. And those who are firmly grounded in knowledge say: "We believe in the Book; the whole of it is from our Lord:" and none will grasp the Message except men of understanding.
3.18. There is no god but He: That is the witness of Allah, His angels, and those endued with knowledge, standing firm on justice. There is no god but He, the Exalted in Power, the Wise.
3.19. The Religion before Allah is Islam (submission to His Will): Nor did the People of the Book dissent therefrom except through envy of each other, after knowledge had come to them. But if any deny the Signs of Allah, Allah is swift in calling to account.
3.84. Say: "We believe in Allah, and in what has been revealed to us and what was revealed to Abraham, Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob, and the Tribes, and in (the Books) given to Moses, Jesus, and the Prophet (SAW) s, from their Lord: We make no distinction between one and another among them, and to Allah do we bow our will (in Islam)."
3.85. If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah., never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter He will be in the ranks of those who have lost (All spiritual good).
3.86. How shall Allah Guide those who reject Faith after they accepted it and bore witness that the Messenger was true and that Clear Signs had come unto them? but Allah guides not a people unjust.
3.90. But those who reject Faith after they accepted it, and then go on adding to their defiance of Faith,- never will their repentance be accepted; for they are those who have (of set purpose) gone astray.
3.100. O ye who believe! If ye listen to a faction among the People of the Book, they would (indeed) render you apostates after ye have believed!
3.106. On the Day when some faces will be (lit up with) white, and some faces will be (in the gloom of) black: To those whose faces will be black, (will be said): "Did ye reject Faith after accepting it? Taste then the penalty for rejecting Faith."
3.110. Ye are the best of peoples, evolved for mankind, enjoining what is right, forbidding what is wrong, and believing in Allah. If only the People of the Book had faith, it were best for them: among them are some who have faith, but most of them are perverted transgressors.
3.122. Remember two of your parties Meditated cowardice; but Allah was their protector, and in Allah should the faithful (Ever) put their trust.
3.173. Men said to them: "A great army is gathering against you": And frightened them: But it (only) increased their Faith: They said: "For us Allah sufficeth, and He is the best disposer of affairs."
3.177. Those who purchase Unbelief at the price of faith,- not the least harm will they do to Allah, but they will have a grievous punishment.
3.193. "Our Lord! we have heard the call of one calling (Us) to Faith, 'Believe ye in the Lord,' and we have believed. Our Lord! Forgive us our sins, blot out from us our iniquities, and take to Thyself our souls in the company of the righteous.’
We have to safeguard our faith. Those who go on changing sides again and again can have no real faith at any time. Their motives are mere worldly double-dealing. How can they expect Allah’s grace or forgiveness.
4.25. If any of you have not the means wherewith to wed free believing women, they may wed believing girls from among those whom your right hands possess: And Allah hath full knowledge about your faith. Ye are one from another: Wed them with the leave of their owners, and give them their dowers, according to what is reasonable: They should be chaste, not lustful, nor taking paramours: when they are taken in wedlock, if they fall into shame, their punishment is half that for free women. This (permission) is for those among you who fear sin; but it is better for you that ye practise self-restraint. And Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful.
4.57. But those who believe and do deeds of righteousness, We shall soon admit to Gardens, with rivers flowing beneath,- their eternal home: Therein shall they have companions pure and holy: We shall admit them to shades, cool and ever deepening.
4.65. But no, by the Lord, they can have no (real) Faith, until they make thee judge in all disputes between them, and find in their souls no resistance against Thy decisions, but accept them with the fullest conviction.
4.87. Allah. There is no god but He: of a surety He will gather you together against the Day of Judgment, about which there is no doubt. And whose word can be truer than Allah.s?
4.125. Who can be better in religion than one who submits his whole self to Allah, does good, and follows the way of Abraham the true in Faith? For Allah did take Abraham for a friend.
4.136. O ye who believe! Believe in Allah and His Messenger, and the scripture which He hath sent to His Messenger and the scripture which He sent to those before (him). Any who denieth Allah, His angels, His Books, His Messenger., and the Day of Judgment, hath gone far, far astray.
4.137. Those who believe, then reject faith, then believe (again) and (again) reject faith, and go on increasing in unbelief,- Allah will not forgive them nor guide them nor guide them on the way.
4.147. What can Allah gain by your punishment, if ye are grateful and ye believe? Nay, it is Allah that recogniseth (all good), and knoweth all things.
4.173. But to those who believe and do deeds of righteousness, He will give their (due) rewards,- and more, out of His bounty: But those who are disdainful and arrogant, He will punish with a grievous penalty; Nor will they find, besides Allah, any to protect or help them.
4.175. ‘Then those who believe in Allah, and hold fast to Him,- soon will He admit them to mercy and grace from Himself, and guide them to Himself by a straight way.’
Always, food, cleanliness, social intercourse, marriage and other interests in life, are linked with our duty to Allah and faith in Him. Duty and faith are for our own benefit, here and in the hereafter.
In Surah Al-Maidah verses no. 5, 9, 69, 120 Allah states:
5.5. This day are (all) things good and pure made lawful unto you. The food of the People of the Book is lawful unto you and yours is lawful unto them. (Lawful unto you in marriage) are (not only) chaste women who are believers, but chaste women among the People of the Book, revealed before your time,- when ye give them their due dowers, and desire chastity, not lewdness, nor secret intrigues if any one rejects faith, fruitless is his work, and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who have lost (all spiritual good).
5.9. To those who believe and do deeds of righteousness hath Allah promised forgiveness and a great reward.
5.69. Those who believe (in the Qur'an), those who follow the Jewish (scriptures), and the Sabians and the Christians,- any who believe in Allah and the Last Day, and work righteousness,- on them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve.
5.120. ‘To Allah doth belong the dominion of the heavens and the earth, and all that is therein, and it is He Who hath power over all things.’
There are signs given by Allah every day – understood by those who believe. Allah’s grace is always ready to help human weakness or ignorance, and to accept repentance and give forgiveness. But where the sinner is in actual rebellion, he will be given rope, and it will be his own fault.
Faith is belief in things, which we do not see with our eyes, but we can understand with our intellect if our whole will consents to it. It results in deeds of righteousness, which are the evidence of our faith.
In Surah Al-An’am verses no. 25, 82, 109, 110, 111, 155, 158, 161 Allah says:

Of them there are some who (pretend to) listen to thee; but We have thrown veils on their hearts, So they understand it not, and deafness in their ears; if they saw every one of the signs, not they will believe in them; in so much that when they come to thee, they (but) dispute with thee; the Unbelievers say: "These are nothing but tales of the ancients."

6.110. We (too) shall turn to (confusion) their hearts and their eyes, even as they refused to believe in this in the first instance: We shall leave them in their trespasses, to wander in distraction.
6.111. Even if We did send unto them angels, and the dead did speak unto them, and We gathered together all things before their very eyes, they are not the ones to believe, unless it is in Allah.s plan. But most of them ignore (the truth).
6.155. And this is a Book which We have revealed as a blessing: so follow it and be righteous, that ye may receive mercy:

Are they waiting to see if the angels come to them, or thy Lord (Himself), or certain of the signs of thy Lord! the day that certain of the signs of thy Lord do come, no good will it do to a soul to believe in them then if it believed not before nor earned righteousness through its faith. Say: "Wait ye: we too are waiting."
6.161. Say: "Verily, my Lord hath guided me to a way that is straight,- a religion of right,- the path (trod) by Abraham the true in Faith, and he (certainly) joined not gods with Allah."

Or the depths of darkness equal with light?" Or do they assign to Allah partners who have created (anything) as He has created, so that the creation seemed to them similar? Say: "(Allah) is the Creator of all things: He is the One, the Supreme and Irresistible."
Allah hath power over all things. The key to all things -- not only those which we see and understand, but those which we do not see or of which we have no idea -- is with Allah, whose knowledge and power are supreme.
The Quran repeatedly reminds man that the hour of Reckoning is not a distant possibility but very close to man, and could come to pass any moment.
The wisest course for man therefore, is to be always alert and watchful and steer clear of all forms of sin and impiety, for when the promised hour comes it will come all of a sudden and without any prior notice.

The first need is to mend our lives, worship and serve Allah. Spotless purity in thought, word and deed includes the disposition to put the best construction on the motives of others, so that we ascribe no evil motive to the seeming indiscretions of virtuous people. Such a high standard can only come by the grace of Allah. He hears all prayers and knows all the temptations to which human nature is subject. Allah’s will and plan make both for spiritual protection and spiritual peace and we must place ourselves trustingly in His hand.
In Surah Ta-Ha verses no. 14 Allah informs:
20.14. "Verily, I am Allah. There is no god but I: So serve thou Me (only), and establish regular prayer for celebrating My praise.’

The physical light is but a reflection of the true light in the world of reality, and that true light is Allah. We can only thing of Allah in terms of our phenomenal world. Light is the purest thing.
The glass by itself not shines, but when the light comes into it, it shines like a brilliant star. So men of God, who preach Allah’s truth, are themselves illuminated by Allah’s light and become the illuminating media through which that light spreads and permeates human life.
In Surah An- Nur verses no. 21, 35 Allah tells:

Allah is pleases according to His own will and plan. He is not dependent on other people for advice or help. He has no partners. All creation is an act of His will and no one can direct Him how or why certain things should be, because He is supreme in wisdom and knowledge.
He chooses His messengers also by His own unfettered choice. Inspiration or spiritual knowledge and dignity cannot be judged of by our relative or temporary standards. Worldly greatness or even wisdom does not necessarily go with spiritual insights.
Man may form all sorts of vain wishes or conceal their designs. But Allah’s will is supreme and nothing can withstand its fulfillment.
The only eternal reality is Allah. The whole phenomenal world is subject to flux, change and will pass away, but He will endure forever.

The men of knowledge and faith knew all along to the true values of the things of this ephemeral life and the things that will endure and face them at the end.
In Surah Ar-Rum verses no. 56 Allah reports:
30.56. But those endued with knowledge and faith will say: "Indeed ye did tarry, within Allah.s Decree, to the Day of Resurrection, and this is the Day of Resurrection: but ye - ye were not aware!"
Everything goes back to Allah. He is our final Goal, as He is the final goal of all things.
In Surah Luqman verses no. 22 Allah express:
31.22. Whoever submits his whole self to Allah, and is a doer of good, has grasped indeed the trustworthiest handhold: and with Allah rests the End and Decision of (all) affairs.
In Surah As-Sajda verses no. 29 Allah remarks:
32.29. Say: "On the Day of Decision, no profit will it be to Unbelievers if they (then) believe! nor will they be granted a respite."
The divine promise of help and success is contingent upon our striving and faith. Nothing comes to the poltroon and the skeptical idler. Dangers and difficulties, and conflict with evil, are foretold us., and we must meet them with fortitude and courage.
In Surah Al-Ahzab verses no. 22, 35, 36 Allah says:
33.22. When the Believers saw the Confederate forces, they said: "This is what Allah and his Messenger had promised us, and Allah and His Messenger told us what was true." And it only added to their faith and their zeal in obedience.
33.35. For Muslim men and women,- for believing men and women, for devout men and women, for true men and women, for men and women who are patient and constant, for men and women who humble themselves, for men and women who give in Charity, for men and women who fast (and deny themselves), for men and women who guard their chastity, and for men and women who engage much in Allah.s praise,- for them has Allah prepared forgiveness and great reward.
33.36. ‘It is not fitting for a Believer, man or woman, when a matter has been decided by Allah and His Messenger to have any option about their decision: if any one disobeys Allah and His Messenger, he is indeed on a clearly wrong Path.’
Faith is a belief in things unseen: now everything is plain and open before us. The position in which we could have received faith is left far off behind them, when truth was struggling and asked for help or asylum, and they cruelly, arrogantly, insultingly repudiated truth.
In Surah Saba verses no. 52 Allah tells:
34.52. And they will say, "We do believe (now) in the (Truth)"; but how could they receive (Faith) from a position (so far off,-
In Surah As-Saffat verses no. 4 Allah informs:
37.4. Verily, verily, your Allah is one!-
Allah has not only created all the worlds, but He maintains them and cares for them .He does not sit apart from His world. Everything depends upon Him.
Allah has nothing to lose by the rebellion or disobedience of His creatures. It is they, who lose, because they go counter to their own nature, the beautiful mould in which Allah created them.
The only truth is in the Gospel of unity; if any one worships other things and turn away from Allah, his life will be wasted and all his probation will have been of no account. False worship means that, we run after fruitless things, and the main purpose of our spiritual lives is lost.
In Surah Az-Zumar verses no. 61- 64 Allah notices:
39.61. But Allah will deliver the righteous to their place of salvation: no evil shall touch them, nor shall they grieve.
39.62. Allah is the Creator of all things, and He is the Guardian and Disposer of all affairs.
39.63. To Him belong the keys of the heavens and the earth: and those who reject the Signs of Allah,- it is they who will be in loss.
39.64. Say: "Is it some one other than Allah that ye order me to worship, O ye ignorant ones?"
The unbelievers having rejected Allah’s signs, they now see how they are shut out from grace and they feel disgusted with themselves. How much greater was Allah’s displeasure with them, when He showed mercy upon mercy on them and they yet rebelled. How could they now hope for grace.
In Surah Al-Gafir verses no. 10, 28 Allah remarks:
40.10. The Unbelievers will be addressed: "Greater was the aversion of Allah to you than (is) your aversion to yourselves, seeing that ye were called to the Faith and ye used to refuse."
40.28. ‘A believer, a man from among the people of Pharaoh, who had concealed his faith, said: "Will ye slay a man because he says, 'My Lord is Allah.?- when he has indeed come to you with Clear (Signs) from your Lord? and if he be a liar, on him is (the sin of) his lie: but, if he is telling the Truth, then will fall on you something of the (calamity) of which he warns you: Truly Allah guides not one who transgresses and lies!’
Though a man of steadfast virtue and purity and unflinching in his search for truth, was yet unacquainted with revelation in the highest sense of the term and with the certainly that comes from perfected faith, or realized nearness to Allah.
The light of the Qur’an made all things clear to man to the world. The Quran and the inspired Prophet (SAW) , who proclaimed it, are here identified. Prophet (SAW) with al-Quran is a guide to men, showing the straight way.
In Surah Ash-Shura verses no. 11, 52 Allah reports:
42.11. (He is) the Creator of the heavens and the earth: He has made for you pairs from among yourselves, and pairs among cattle: by this means does He multiply you: there is nothing whatever like unto Him, and He is the One that hears and sees (all things).
42.52. ‘And thus have We, by Our Command, sent inspiration to thee: thou newest not (before) what was Revelation, and what was Faith; but We have made the (Qur'an) a Light, wherewith We guide such of Our servants as We will; and verily thou dost guide (men) to the
Allah is the source of all energy and life. If the wicked try to persecute men or reduce them from the truth, the result will be the opposite of what they intend.
The more the wicked rage, the better will be the position of the righteous, and Allah will make it easier and easier for the righteous to love and follow the truth.
We learn the greatest moral lessons by parables and similitudes from things that happen in the outer world. If a man goes after a mirage or a thing that has no real existence, he can never reach his goal. While the man that follows the kindly light from Allah that leads him on must be happier in mind, sounder in heart, and firmer in life, generally for every moment that he lives.
In Surah Muhammad verses no. 3,12 Allah mentions:
47.3. This because those who reject Allah follow vanities, while those who believe follow the Truth from their Lord: Thus does Allah set forth for men their lessons by similitude’s.
47.12. ‘Verily Allah will admit those who believe and do righteous deeds, to Gardens beneath which rivers flow; while those who reject Allah will enjoy (this world) and eat as cattle eat; and the Fire will be their abode.’
It is a casuistically question to ask. Is there degree in faith? The plain meaning is that believers will see one sign of after another, and with each their faith is confirmed. During all the long years of persecution and conflict they had faith, but when they see their old enemies actually coming out to negotiate with them, their faith is justified, fulfilled, and confirmed, and they turn in gratitude to Allah.
In Surah Al -Fath verses no. 4 Allah explains:
48.4. ‘It is He Who sent down tranquillity into the hearts of the Believers, that they may add faith to their faith;- for to Allah belong the Forces of the heavens and the earth; and Allah is Full of Knowledge and Wisdom;-‘
Fortunate indeed was the generation among whom the Prophet (SAW) of Allah walked in his daily life. His example was inspiring. Their inner faith was dear to them, It was a thing to be proud of in their innermost hearts, and they loved discipline, obedience, and righteousness. No wonder all their other disadvantages were neutralized, and they went from strength to strength. Nothing but the grace of Allah could have brought about such a result.
Before Allah they are all one, and he gets most honour that is most righteous. Islam requires the complete submission of one’s being to Allah.
Islam in itself is a precious privilege. If the acceptance of Islam is from the heart, it is a great favour done to those who accept, that the light of Allah has entered their hearts and they have received guidance.
In Surah Al -Hujurat verses no. 7, 11, 14, 15, 17 Allah reports:
49.7. And know that among you is Allah.s Messenger. were he, in many matters, to follow your (wishes), ye would certainly fall into misfortune: But Allah has endeared the Faith to you, and has made it beautiful in your hearts, and He has made hateful to you Unbelief, wickedness, and rebellion: such indeed are those who walk in righteousness;-
49.11. O ye who believe! Let not some men among you laugh at others: It may be that the (latter) are better than the (former): Nor let some women laugh at others: It may be that the (latter are better than the (former): Nor defame nor be sarcastic to each other, nor call each other by (offensive) nicknames: Ill-seeming is a name connoting wickedness, (to be used of one) after he has believed: And those who do not desist are (indeed) doing wrong.
49.14. The desert Arabs say, "We believe." Say, "Ye have no faith; but ye (only) say, 'We have submitted our wills to Allah,' For not yet has Faith entered your hearts. But if ye obey Allah and His Messenger, He will not belittle aught of your deeds: for Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful."
49.15. Only those are Believers who have believed in Allah and His Messenger, and have never since doubted, but have striven with their belongings and their persons in the Cause of Allah. Such are the sincere ones, Were We then weary with the first Creation that they should be in confused doubt about a new Creation?
49.17. ‘They impress on thee as a favour that they have embraced Islam. Say, "Count not your Islam as a favour upon me: Nay, Allah has conferred a favour upon you that He has guided you to the faith, if ye be true and sincere.’
Allah creates the universe not for idle sports or play. He has a serious purpose behind it. Allah is the source and centre of all power and goodness. Our progress depends upon putting ourselves into accord with his will. What we do, only for our own benefits.
Allah is independent of all needs. It is therefore absurd to suppose that he should require any sustenance and still more absurd to suppose that we can feed Him! The gifts, the sustenance, the goodness all come from the side of Allah.
Allah commands all power; therefore any power we seek must be from him. And his power is steadfast, the same today as yesterday and forever. Therefore His help is always sure.
In Surah Az- zariyat verses no. 56- 58 Allah notices:
51.56. I have only created Jinns and men, that they may serve Me.
51.57. No Sustenance do I require of them, nor do I require that they should feed Me.
51.58. For Allah is He Who gives (all) Sustenance,- Lord of Power,- Steadfast (for ever).
In Surah At-Tur verses no. 21 Allah says:
52.21: ‘And those who believe and whose families follow them in Faith,- to them shall We join their families: Nor shall We deprive them (of the fruit) of aught of their works: (Yet) is each individual in pledge for his deeds.’
The Prophet (SAW) said, “ Thou art the first, so that there was nothing before thee; and thou art the first, so that there was nothing after thee; and thou art evident, (or Ascendant) so that there is nothing above thee, and thou art the hidden, the knower of hidden things, so that there is nothing hidden from thee.”
Humility and the remembrance of Allah and His message are never more necessary than in the hour of victory and prosperity.
General lesson is far wider. No one is favoured of Allah except on the score of righteousness. Except on that score, there is no chosen individual or race. There is no blind good fortune or ill fortune. All happens according to the just laws and will of Allah. But at no time is humility or righteousness more necessary than in the hour of victory or triumph.
In Surah Al- Hadid verses no. 1-7, 16, 19, 27 Allah explains:
57.1. Whatever is in the heavens and on earth,- let it declare the Praises and Glory of Allah. for He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.
57.2. To Him belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth: It is He Who gives Life and Death; and He has Power over all things.
57.3. He is the First and the Last, the Evident and the Immanent: and He has full knowledge of all things.
57.4. He it is Who created the heavens and the earth in Six Days, and is moreover firmly established on the Throne (of Authority). He knows what enters within the earth and what comes forth out of it, what comes down from heaven and what mounts up to it. And He is with you wheresoever ye may be. And Allah sees well all that ye do.
57.5. To Him belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth: and all affairs are referred back to Allah.
57.6. He merges Night into Day, and He merges Day into Night; and He has full knowledge of the secrets of (all) hearts.
57.7. Believe in Allah and His apostle, and spend (in charity) out of the (substance) whereof He has made you heirs. For, those of you who believe and spend (in charity),- for them is a great Reward.
57.16. Has not the Time arrived for the Believers that their hearts in all humility should engage in the remembrance of Allah and of the Truth which has been revealed (to them), and that they should not become like those to whom was given Revelation aforetime, but long ages passed over them and their hearts grew hard? For many among them are rebellious transgressors.
57.19. And those who believe in Allah and His apostles- they are the Sincere (lovers of Truth), and the witnesses (who testify), in the eyes of their Lord: They shall have their Reward and their Light. But those who reject Allah and deny Our Signs,- they are the Companions of Hell-Fire.
57.27. ‘Then, in their wake, We followed them up with (others of) Our apostles: We sent after them Jesus the son of Mary, and bestowed on him the Gospel; and We ordained in the hearts of those who followed him Compassion and Mercy. But the Monasticism which they invented for themselves, We did not prescribe for them: (We commanded) only the seeking for the Good Pleasure of Allah. but that they did not foster as they should have done. Yet We bestowed, on those among them who believed, their (due) reward, but many of them are rebellious transgressors.’
If any one believes in Allah and his goodness, justice and in the hereafter, in which all true values will be restored he will never love evil or wrong doing or rebellion against Allah, even if these things are found in his nearest kith and kin.
Faith in Allah is indelibly written on the tablets of their hearts and they can never be false to Allah.
Allah strengthens all good and righteous men. Whenever any one offers his heart in faith and purity to Allah, Allah accepts it, engraves that faith on the seeker’s heart and further fortifies him with his help which we can no more define adequately than we can define in human language the nature and attributes of Allah.
Again we have the doctrine of Allah’s good pleasure as the highest goal of man, the spiritual heaven that he achieves by a life of purity and faith. He not only attains Allah’s good pleasure as the crown of his felicity, but his own nature is so far nothing but in Allah’s good pleasure
In Surah Al- Mujadila verses no. 22 Allah relates:
58.22. ‘Thou wilt not find any people who believe in Allah and the Last Day, loving those who resist Allah and His Messenger, even though they were their fathers or their sons, or their brothers, or their kindred. For such He has written Faith in their hearts, and strengthened them with a spirit from Himself. And He will admit them to Gardens beneath which Rivers flow, to dwell therein (for ever). Allah will be well pleased with them, and they with Him. They are the Party of Allah. Truly it is the Party of Allah that will achieve Felicity.’
There is nothing else like Allah. We think of His unity, all the varying and conflicting forces in creation are controlled by him and look to him.
The knowledge of Allah extends to everything seen and unseen, present and future, near and far, being and not in being. In fact these contrasts, which apply to our knowledge, do not apply to him. His grace and His mercy are unbouned.
In order to lead us to the contemplation of some other attributes of Allah, after we have realized those, which form our fundamental conceptions of Allah.
Mumin, one who entertains faith, gives faith to others, is never false to the faith that other place in him; hence our paraphrase ‘ Guardian of faith’.
Allah is not only good, but He can carry out His will. If anything resists or opposes him, His will prevails. He is supreme, above all things and creatures. Thus we come back to the unity.
Allah does not merely create and leave alone; He goes on fashioning, evolving new forms and colours and sustaining all the energies and capacities, which He has put into His creation according to various laws and which He has established.
In Surah Al-Hashr verses no. 22, 23, 24 Allah notices:
59.22. Allah is He, than Whom there is no other god;- Who knows (all things) both secret and open; He, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
59.23. Allah is He, than Whom there is no other god;- the Sovereign, the Holy One, the Source of Peace (and Perfection), the Guardian of Faith, the Preserver of Safety, the Exalted in Might, the Irresistible, the Supreme: Glory to Allah. (High is He) above the partners they attribute to Him.
59.24. ‘He is Allah, the Creator, the Evolver, the Bestower of Forms (or Colours). To Him belong the Most Beautiful Names: whatever is in the heavens and on earth, doth declare His Praises and Glory: and He is the Exalted in Might, the Wise.’
All creatures’ obedience is not necessary to Allah, nor will their rejection of truth affect the validity of truth or injure the progress of truth. Allah is free from all needs, or dependence on any circumstance whatever. He sends His message for the good of mankind, and it is man who suffers by ignoring, rejecting or opposing it.
In Surah At - Taqabun verses no. 5- 6, 13 Allah mentions:
64.5. Has not the story reached you, of those who rejected Faith aforetime? So they tasted the evil result of their conduct; and they had a grievous Penalty.
64.6. That was because there came to them apostles with Clear Signs, but they said: "Shall (mere) human beings direct us?" So they rejected (the Message) and turned away. But Allah can do without (them): and Allah is free of all needs, worthy of all praise.
64.13. ‘Allah. There is no god but He: and on Allah, therefore, let the Believers put their trust.’
Faith is a matter of personal conviction, and does not depend on worldly motives. Worship should depend on pure and sincere faith. But often does not; for motives of worldly gain, ancestral custom, social conventions or imitative instincts, or a lethargic instinct to shrink from enquiring into the real significance of solemn acts and the motives behind them, reduce a great deal of the world’s worship to sin, selfishness, or futility.
Truth must prevail in the end. This was the attitude of faith then: but it is true for all time. Hold fast to truth, “ in scorn of consequence.”
In Surah Al- Kafirun verses no. 1- 6 Allah explains:
109.1. Say : O ye that reject Faith!
109.2. I worship not that which ye worship,
109.3. Nor will ye worship that which I worship.
109.4. And I will not worship that which ye have been wont to worship,
109.5. Nor will ye worship that which I worship.
109.6. To you be your Way, and to me mine.
The Arabs in Mecca and later the Jews in Medina inquired from Allah’s Rasul (SAW), who is Allah? Allah revealed in Surah Ikhlas (S112).
The nature of Allah is so sublime, so far beyond our limited conceptions that the best way in which we can realize Him is to feel that he is a personality, “ He” and not a mere abstract conception of philosophy, He is near us; he cares for us; we owe our existence to Him.
Secondly, He is the one and only God, the only one to whom worship is due; all other things or beings that we can think of are His creatures on in no way comparable to Him.
Thirdly, He is eternal, without beginning or end, Absolute, not limited by time or place or circumstance, the reality.
Fourthly, we must not think of him as having a son or a father.
Fifthly, He is not like any other person or thing that we know or can imagine, his qualities and nature are unique.
Allah is a ‘Samad’: It implies that, (1) absolute existence can only be predicated of Him; all other existence is temporal or conditional. (2) He is dependent on no person or things, but all persons or things, but all persons or things are dependent on Him.
In Surah Al- Ikhas verses no. 1- 4 Allah remarks:
112.1. Say: He is Allah, the One and Only;
112.2. Allah, the Eternal, Absolute;
112.3. He begetteth not, nor is He begotten;
112.4. And there is none like unto Him.
